All About Potato Head

Happy Halloween!

For us, the theme of the day was Mr. Potato Head.

It started this morning when we went to open play at Champion Kids, a gym for kids. It was half off with a costume so Dylan happily donned his Mr. Potato Head attire.

Looking back, Mr. Potato Head was a great costume for Dylan this year because 1) he really likes Mr. Potato Head so enjoyed wearing it, and 2) it was lightweight and easy to throw on so he was able to run around and play  without too much hindrance.

My favorite part of Champion Kids is the foam pit. Dylan loves jumping in!

Later in the day, Mr. Potato Head’s son (I guess?), this little spud, took center stage in Dylan’s playing. Everything Dylan did, Spud did too! Dylan was very careful to make sure Spud had a turn on everything!

And of course, Mr. Potato Head had to go trick or treating! At the start of the Halloween season I started to make Dylan a costume from scratch but gave up on it when it became too complicated. He was going to be The Very Hungry Caterpillar, I was going to be a butterfly and I was trying to convince Jay to be a cocoon. Anyway, I bailed on the whole shebang when I got Dylan the Mr. Potato Head costume, but I still had butterfly wings for myself so I was prepared with a costume for trick or treating. Jason, on the other hand, had no costume on deck so when he came home from work tonight, he quickly whipped one up!

We  joined our friends, Trey and Lesly, in their neighborhood so that Dylan could go trick or treat with their daughter, Olivia!

More than anything, I love how much Jay owned this look.

He was fully committed.

Dylan ate M&Ms from my hand the whole time we were out. I think he’s starting to understand the beauty of free candy.

I leave you with one last look at my little tater tot enjoying his second Halloween. Here we are trick or treating together!

That’s a wrap on Halloween 2012! I feel pleased with how thoroughly I embrace it. I suppose its time to start getting Dylan pumped up about turkeys. Somehow, Thanksgiving doesn’t seem as exciting…but I’ll try!

I enjoyed the feeling of being part of your trick or treat experience. Dylan is the cutest Mr. Potato head! Thanksgiving isn’t quite as exciting but there is the pilgrim and native American fun. He may be a little young for that. Might as well just head into Christmas. The stores already have! Can’t wait to see you!
