It was only a matter of time, I suppose. He is learning his opposites and when I say, “The opposite of neat is…?” He says, with great enthusiasm, “Messy!”
I don’t think it helps that I go out of my way to chronicle our messes for this blog. He sees me jump to grab my camera to document our finer creations, so I think he finds them something to be proud of.
When its just the two of us at home and I need to take a shower, I lock him in the bathroom with me and let him…do his thing…while I do mine. Today, this is what his thing looked like:
Frankly, he couldn’t have been prouder! And is it weird that just a little bitty part of me was too?
I said, “You made a mess!”
To which he replied, “Mess!”
And then we both has a good laugh.
I then sang the “Clean Up” song in an effort to pump him up for the pick-up portion of the mess-making, but he wasn’t as excited about that.
