We threw a hot chocolate party last year and this box of hot chocolate packets has been on top of our fridge ever since.
We never drink it so I was going to throw it out this afternoon when inspiration struck.
I know what you are probably thinking. Perhaps words like “gross” and “weird” are fluttering through your mind. Yes, yes, I can see your point and yet…well, curiosity got the better of me and I just had to know.
I brought a pot of hot chocolate to a soft boil then added a little salt and half a pound of dry spaghetti. Dylan was eating dinner in the kitchen and observing me.
I went to give him a few dry noodles to play with when the unthinkable happened. I swear I only turned my back for one second!
Major UGH. It was as bad as it looks but I remained undeterred. I slopped, I cleaned, I mopped, I took a razor blade to the stovetop to get the gunk off and then I got back to work.
Here are the noodles al dente. I went on to cook them just a little bit longer as I thought a softer bite would be better for this, um, recipe.
Once drained I added salty butter and tossed the chocolaty noodles.
I then used my zester to add a hefty sprinkling of confectioner’s sugar. I do have a sifter but its big so I opted for this makeshift option. It worked well! The sugar melted as it hit the warm, buttery noodles creating a light glaze.
I added a few squirts of whipped cream, milk chocolate chips and voilà! Hot Chocolate Noodles!
You’re skeptical. I know you are. I was too. For all intent and purposes this dish is a bad idea and yet I would be lying through my sticky teeth if I said it was anything but delicious.
Spaghetti cooked in a hot chocolate bath and glazed with powdered sugar. Get into it.

I have heard of chocolate pasta but not chocolate noodles! How cool is that.
This reminded me of the movie Elf, with the pasta and the maple syrup. Not for me, Courtney!
Ha! Yeah, I agree, they are totally over the top.
Two of my favorite things rolled into one! Make some for me!
