Livin’ On A Prayer

Its 7am and as I write this my parents and nephew are packing up to go home. We’ve had a great visit and I’m sad to see them leave. Thankfully, I’ll be going to visit them in a few weeks so it all works out!

A small recap of the rest of our visit…

We have been hitting up the major museums and Atlanta hot spots. Not to be missed: The CNN Center! Its actually just a food court below the CNN studios, but my dad likes hanging out there.

Ryder got the legit “CNN Experience” and participated in a fake broadcast. He had to do a cold read off the teleprompter and did so well. I used to have to read off a teleprompter daily when I did entertainment news segments for a television network in Boston and it is hard. I was nervous and awful at it for at least six months before I started to feel comfortable. Ryder had it all down in minutes!

Another day found us at the Fernbank Museum to see the natural history exhibits and to go to a showing of Alaska at the IMAX theater. Dylan loved the movie!

They have a great toddler-play area there and I’ll be sure to go back! The only damper on the day was that an hour after this video was taken, Dylan came down with a totally unexpected and violent stomach bug.

I wonder if he caught something there? We went to the Coke Museum the day before and touched a lot of buttons on the soda dispensers so it could have happened there too. We’ll never know! At any rate, the 24 hours after The Fernbank were spent recuperating at home.

Wednesday night Jay stayed home with Dylan while I attended a Bon Jovi concert with my parents and Ryder. My mom LOVES Bon Jovi and snatch up tickets when she heard he’s be in ATL the same time as her. I’ve only been to a few big concerts…Paula Abdul and New Kids on the Block are the two that come to mind…when I was a kid. It was fun to share this experience with my mom and these guys:

Best Video Ever alert! Check out this crazy fan sitting behind me! I snuck an over-the-shoulder video of her.

The concert was great! I am now an official Bon Jovi fan! We all had fun, but no one more than Ryder, who rocked out the whole time like his life depended on it!

Yesterday we went to Marietta Square to walk around and grab lunch. Dylan picked up a few new toys at Lizards & Lollipops, a really cute toy store on the square.

And finally, last night Ryder went out in search of a present for Dylan. His choice was perfect!

Bon voyage to my family! Thanks for the memories!
