Like most Main Streets, Rochester, New Hampshire’s has a library, post office and police station. It also has stores like this.
And that’s all you need to know about that.
I had a great time walking around town with my childhood friend, Katie, today. I met her at the age of four and we went to the same schools through high school. We walked by our elementary school during our tour of Rochester today and snapped this unflattering picture:
Before our walk we ate breakfast at the Friendly’s next to the library, because that’s what we used to do as kids. It felt fitting to go back with my kid.
The spread:
The wiggle worm:
Speaking of worms, Dylan liked getting to know the metal “book worms” living in the grass outside the library:
I was lucky enough to get the full hometown experience of my youth today because the Rochester Fair was in town! I’m not much for rides anymore (motion sickness), but I can handle a few at Dylan’s level. My mom was the designated waver and picture taker tonight.
A mini-roller coaster (can you spot Dylan’s little head?)
Carousel:
“Crazy” Bus:
Right about now I was started to get a little queasy:
So we wrapped up the rides with a trip through the mirror maze:
It was a fun night. Dylan ate french fries and ice cream for dinner, but that’s nothing new. I also played a couple games and managed to win him some prizes! All told, it was a fun and nostalgic day!

i wish I could have shared the whole day with you. I know how you felt. It is the same way I feel when I go to Turners Falls…
