I recently complained to Jason that some of the makeup I wear every day is so old, its from our wedding day. To put that in perspective, we just celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary. Jason was apparently listening and surprised me with a Sephora gift card for our anniversary! Last night, I cashed it in for all NEW MAKEUP!
I am extremely low-maintenance with my looks and my old makeup bag proves it.
Its dirty and filled with old makeup I don’t wear in colors I don’t like, along with a few items I actually do wear in colors I don’t like. These are the few products I regularly use:
And now, here are the products I will be using!
Out of their packaging:
Let’s do some comparisons!
Old vs. New Eye Shadow:
I got that powdery blue eye shadow for my wedding day and have worn it ever since. Its been a workhorse. I might not even recognize myself in something new! The salesperson helping me at Sephora brought me a ton of different eye shadows to try, in purples, greens and pinks, but they all looked weird on me. I think I just like blue. The fact that I got a pallet of three colors, though, is a change. I generally don’t like brown on me at all but the salesperson was so intent on getting me to wear it as an accent color to the blue shadow that I decided to give it a shot. I usually prefer dark blue, grays and black as accent colors, but we’ll see. I trust that she knows more about makeup than I do. Well, for that matter, I trust that Dylan knows more about makeup than I do.
Old vs. New Eyeliner:
The old one was soft black and this new one is brown. Gosh, I hope I like the brown!
Old vs. New Blush
Not much to say about this one, except that when the salesperson asked how important blush is to me, I admitted that if I could only wear one kind of makeup, I’d chose blush, followed closely behind by mascara. I feel so washed out without blush. I don’t like warm or peachy colors so I chose this one, which is on the cooler end of the pink color spectrum.
Old vs. New Mascara:
My only criteria for choosing a new mascara was that it wouldn’t clump. The cheap Great Lash one pictured above has been the clumpiest mascara I’ve ever worn and I can’t stand it! This new mascara makes a lot of claims, but I’m just excited about its wand, which looks like it won’t clump:
In addition to the makeup, I got this eye shadow primer:
This eye cream:
And this sunscreen, which I think I will like because you can dust it on throughout the day, over and/or under makeup.
If you’ve made it to the end of this post you deserve “Before and After” shots of me in my old versus new makeup, and yet…its 10:53 pm and I just can’t go “put on my face” right now. I can’t imagine anything worse! But I promise to post comparison pictures in the next day or two, and I’ll also let you know how I feel about the new makeup once I’ve put it on myself.
Later!

You ruined it for me. I always thought it was “Natural” beauty. I had no idea you wore all that……. Just kidding. I’m glad you’re excited and it was a very nice gift especially since he “Heard you”. Russ
