Whelp, we made it to 35 weeks and my mother-in-law, Roxanne, is here so if baby Levi decides to come early, we are ready for him!
I spent last week doing as many things as possible with Dylan. These are our last outings alone and that has been pretty emotional for me. Things are changing for good reasons, but change is always hard, especially when it means Dylan is growing up and perhaps a little further from me. I don’t think there is a pace that he could become more independent that would feel slow enough for me because I always want him to be my baby! But alas, its good for him to have the confidence and ability to be his own man and and that’s all that really matters. Still, I wouldn’t mind if time stood still now and then.

Time for a quick pregnancy update before the weekend recap!
I’ve made it to 34 weeks! This is supposed to be a milestone week in terms of how well the baby would survive outside the womb so I am relived to be here. That said, I can’t imagine getting any bigger!

I’m sitting here watching trashy TV and “putting my feet up” while my parents and Ryder are off on an adventure with Dylan. I have mixed emotions about this because I feel good and want to be with them, but my doctor told me not to exert myself and to get off my feet as much as possible. I’m grateful to have a little time I don’t usually have to relax, but I do feel like I am missing out on some fun. I’m just trying to keep it in perspective; if I were on strict bed rest things would be a lot more extreme and this is all temporary anyway.

Aside from a fun day I had with Dylan on Sunday, this past week and weekend revolved around Jay getting the flu and Dylan and I waiting to see if we would get it (we didn’t).
Jay got the flu shot but somehow it didn’t work for him. He started feeling bad last Monday and finally went to a clinic to get tested for the flu on Friday and it was positive for type B flu (which was covered in the flu shot so go figure). We were all home together sharing germs for four days because of the snow storm so Dylan and I were definitely exposed, but when I got the flu test on Saturday (as a precaution when I felt a slight sore throat) it was negative and today is Monday and I still feel fine so I think (knock on wood) Dylan and I are in the clear. Jay must have been given a botched flu shot or something.

This recap is a few days overdue, but better than nothing!
Here we are! I’m 31 weeks this week and feeling good! I’m tired and feel gigantic, but every day this baby stays inside and doesn’t emerge prematurely is a good day.
Jay spent Friday in Las Vegas having a meeting with Boyz II Men…because that’s what he does.

Here he is with Wanya Morris:

Meanwhile, I stayed home and made cookies with Dylan…because that’s what I do.

Jason has been eating a Paleo diet for a couple of years now and the two things he misses most are probably pizza and pancakes. I have offered to make him many different Paleo pizzas utilizing sweet potato, almond flour, coconut flour or cauliflower crusts, but he refuses. He knows they will not taste the same as traditional pizza and he doesn’t want to settle. The same kind of goes for pancakes. I’ve tried a few Paleo pancake recipes in the past but none of them were worth making twice…until now.

(No, not the baby.)
We had a crazy week here in Atlanta! A crazy snow and ice storm on Tuesday and short sleeves on Sunday. Our family was lucky and didn’t have to the worst experience during the storm. I had a three hour commute to get home from a store down the street. Jay had a five hour commute home from his office which is usually 10 minutes away. Compared to the people forced to sleep in the cars on the highway, we had it easy!

Before I start the weekend recap, I wanted to share a little story from this morning because it was kind of a moment for me. I usually listen to talk radio on Sirius/XM, audiobooks or podcasts in the car. Lately, however, Dylan has been requesting music. As you may recall, music often makes me emotional at kind of an unreasonable level, so I tend to avoid it, but when your sweet little three year old boy asks to hear it, you have to oblige him.

Before I get to the weekend recap, a little pregnancy update. This time, good news! I mentioned last week that I was possibly having some complications that might involve bed rest. I went back to the doctor’s this weekend and things are looking MUCH better! In fact, right now, everything is great. I still have to “take it easy” but that’s about it. We are very relieved and hope things stay this way.

I mentioned last week that I made these awesome avocado brownies and I promised to post the recipe, so here it is! I used Carla Hall’s recipe and made a few small tweaks, primarily with addition of a “chia seed egg”, which I’ve written about before here.
