I’m back in Georgia and getting into in the swing of things! I already miss my family in New Hampshire but it is nice to be in my bubble with all my little comforts again. When I’m gone I kind of forget how much I appreciate some of the things that are so much a part of my daily life here. To that end, I thought tonight I’d provide you with a list of some of my favorite favorite things. Over half of them are food-related, but that’s not an inaccurate representation of my preferences. If you’ve been following this blog for a minute you’ll already know a lot of these things but there may be a few surprises!
In no special order (other than the order in which I snapped the pictures) may I present:
My Favorite Favorite Things!
#1 Make-Up Essentials
If I could only put three make-up items on my face for the rest of my life I would pick these three things: concealer, blush and mascara. I wouldn’t mind some lip gloss, but I won’t be greedy. I’m a fair person and look so much better when I put on blush and mascara…and the concealer is just to hide the inevitable spots.
#2 Big Enough Running Sneakers
I spent years and years running in sneakers that were too small. I used to find it annoying when my foot moved even a little inside my sneaker while I was running so I bought sneakers that fit like a glove. A latex glove. But you know what’s even more annoying than feeling your feet move? Losing your toenails from the trauma of your big toe hitting the toe box of your sneakers. I now get my sneakers in a mammoth size 11 and run comfortably.
#3 iPod, Earphones and a Good Podcast or Audiobook
Give me a spring day, a country road and an iPod loaded with a good audiobook or podcast and I’ll be in my happy place.
#4 This Dirty, Old Curling Iron
I have a nice, new curling iron but I always reach for this old one. I have scars from it because the protective top piece fell off a few years ago, but I still reach for it. When push comes to shove, it does me right. My hair is naturally wavy but I don’t like wavy hair; I like straight hair or curly hair. This curling iron helps me tame my tresses better than any other. It feels like an extension of my arm.
#5 Any and All Keurig Machines
I like hot coffee and instant gratification. ‘Nuff said.
#6 Chocolate
I wish I could say I reach for this:
But this is more realistic:
#7 Gourds
I like squash in a way that surpasses Thanksgiving. It doesn’t taste as good out of season, but mediocre squash is still better than no squash at all.
#8 Heroin
Just checking to see if you’re still paying attention. Seriously though, you all know I don’t do heroin! I much prefer hallucinogens.
(Just kidding, Mom!)
#9 Water
I drink water like my life depends on it! Oh, wait…I guess it does.
#10 Orbit Sweet Mint Gum
I don’t really want to chew gum because I know its not good for you, but I can’t help myself! This flavor is totally addictive. I go through phases of chewing gum with and without guilt…but I chew it either way. That’s a productive use of my time and energy, right?
#11 Oats. And Oats. And, Oh Yeah, More Oats.
I eat oatmeal once or twice a day every day. I just love it. It’s nutty, creamy, chewy, soft, warm and gooey. Yummmmmm. Is it time for breakfast yet????
#12 Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream
I so want this ice cream to be organic! In my fantasy world I wouldn’t eat dairy. In my future world I hope to only eat organic dairy. In my real world, I eat this stuff. A lot. I’ll get there.
#13 Yoga Pants and Slippers
Yoga pants are like wearing nothing and slippers are little hugs for your feet. I am never fully comfy without these two items on my body!
#14 My Video Baby Monitor (and my baby)
For the first half of Dylan’s life we only had an audio monitor and it was impossible to relax. Every little sound Dylan made sounded like a bomb going off in his room. Jason makes videos for a living so I have to wonder why we didn’t get a video monitor to begin with? Its like the dentist’s kid who has scraggly brown teeth. Anyway, once we got it my life transformed. It has given me freedom…within the house.
#15 This Guy
Picture 1: “You’re not taking a picture of me are you? This is my fat shirt!”
Me: “Yes. Smile!”
Picture 2: “Make sure you say that this is my fat shirt.”
I love that guy. <3
