This, That and the Other

Its Friday so this post is loosey-goosey.

I have been researching cloth diapers. I think I am going to invest in a set of newborn all-in-one diapers to see how it goes and then if I like it I will buy the next size up after that. This approach seems less daunting to me than jumping all in all at once. So far, of all the diapers I’ve looked at online, I’m leaning towards these Lil Joey’s for the newborn stage. If anyone reading this knows anything about cloth diapers and wants to chime in on these, I’m all eyes.

2. My mom and I took Dylan to a toy store in Portsmouth the other day and somehow managed to leave with a couple cool toys that were not tools! Of course, we only managed this by tell him these were “pipes” that he could tighten with his monkey wrench, but it still worked and its been fun for me to see him explore toys outside the tool realm for a change.

The toy above is called Quercetti Tubation and I like it because it requires Dylan to use his imagination to play with it and also because it involves mechanical thinking as he has to figure out how to put the pieces together to create something. You will not be surprised to know that he is mostly using them to create tools, but its still pushing him out of his comfort zone a bit.

My mom also picked up a suction cup toy called Squigz to add to her collection. Its another mechanical/imagination toy involving soft suction cups that you can fit together to create whatever you want.

Dylan made tools, I made weird suction people.

I have some cute pictures and videos to share from our visit so far.

Dylan was so excited to be reunited with his beloved cousin Julia.

(p.s. I just LOVE fall in New England.)

Here’s Dylan playing an opposite-matching game with my mom one morning.

And a video of them playing together.

Dylan and I had to kill some time today so we popped into Chuck E. Cheese.

Everyone gathered at my sister Alana’s house this evening to watch my nephew Ryder get dressed up for a costume dance at his middle school. He went as the Mad Hatter and looked awesome!

All the kids got in the mood and dressed up a bit. Here’s Parker primping in front of Julia’s vanity:

And Trevor put on this really cute face.

Julia donned her Sophia the First costume.

And then we had pizza for dinner. All the cousin’s lined up at the table to eat:

And later adjourned to the couch for 2.3 seconds.

Here’s a cute video of Dylan and Julia bouncing on my dad’s knees.

Lastly, I had the best salad the other day at the Portsmouth Brewery. It had tofu, Vermont cheddar, beans, nuts, pretzel bits, lots of veggies and a good roll.  I just wanted to share a picture.
