Post image for Trippy

You know what’s totally trippy? Meeting up with a friend that you haven’t seen since high school and feeling like your conversation picked up right where you left off, except now you’re having it in front of your kids in a grown-up house drinking good wine instead of cheap wine hidden in Diet Coke cans.

Michele and I were inseparable in high school. A few memories really stand out, including the night we went to see Legends of the Fall and I was so moved by it that when we got back to her house for a sleepover I insisted we sleep outside to be closer to nature and proceeded to wail for over an hour because I was so in love with the earth (and no, I wasn’t “on” anything but, I suppose, Brad Pitt.). I also remember when we signed up for cross country together. Neither of us were good at running and we both hated competition so we spent our whole first season hanging back and running together at both practices and meets rather than, you know, trying to improve our running and/or enhance our team’s scores.

Dylan and I both felt very comfortable at Michele’s house! She’s very laid back and her kids are super sweet.

Because I don’t go on Facebook very often I really didn’t know much about Michele’s life when I arrived so it was fun getting the Cliff’s Notes version of the last sixteen years of her life. ( I am getting so old!) She reads this blog so she had a leg up on my shenanigans! (Hi, Michele!)

I’m looking forward to hanging out again on my future trips home and rekindling our new, old friendship.

If I don’t check in tomorrow, Happy Fourth of July to you all!
