Weekend Recap: A Dollar Short

Sorry to bring this recap a day late. Poor Dylan has some congestion and couldn’t get to sleep last night so my usual blogging hour came and went while I tended to his post-nasal drip.

The house continues to be a fun place to live, and since this was our first weekend here together we honestly didn’t do much but enjoy each other’s company. Let’s see what I can recall…

As evidenced in the following video, Dylan kicked off Saturday morning with his new favorite activity: pouring water over his head.

I plum forgot to snap pictures when we went to a local park later in the morning. We met up with our friends and their kids and intended to stay a while but the sky opened up and poured water on our heads, so we made a quick stop at a grocery store and then headed back home. I just want to point out at this juncture that before the move “meeting up” with these friends would have involved a lot of pre-planning and an hour’s drive, but now its as easy as pie!

Back home, we ate lunch, Dylan napped and then we all went to the pool. The pool visit is also not pictured (I need to get better about that!). More water was dumped on his head there. The rest of the afternoon we just stayed at home and hung out.

In the midst of playing with Dylan at his little table in the kitchen, I happened to pause and take note of the scene before me. It struck me that what I was looking at was pretty great, so I snapped a picture:

Jason took Dylan to the pool while I worked out in the morning. When they got back Dylan took an early nap and I used the time to put away a massive amount of laundry and tidy up the house. I love the role this new pool plays in wearing Dylan out for his naps!

We went to the Marietta Diner for lunch.

It was awesome. I love that we are trying new restaurants now because for so long we only ate at Jefferson’s.

Dylan ate a few fries but didn’t have an appetite. His congestion had already set in.

After lunch we did what any respectable people in a new house do: we went to IKEA. Which, I might add, was a mere twenty minute drive from our house. That’s as close as our old Walmart was in Cartersville!

Sorry to keep bringing up how close everything is, but I just can’t get over it yet!

Back home we played and relaxed. We actually spent a lot of time playing in the kitchen as a family last night because Dylan was having fun in there and any time I left the room for a second he’d take my hand and lead me back in!

Here’s a quick video I took during the juggling portion of our night. Dylan likes to give Jason little challenges.

Lastly, Dylan and I are both really into Mr. Potato Head right now, but I have this problem where I can’t allow myself to put him together in a silly way (though Dylan is great at this). I want him just so at all times:

Here’s looking at you, kid.

“Mr. Potato Head, I want him just so at all times”. That’s called “CDO”. That’s like “OCD” but the way it should be…………
