(No, not the baby.)

We had a crazy week here in Atlanta! A crazy snow and ice storm on Tuesday and short sleeves on Sunday. Our family was lucky and didn’t have to the worst experience during the storm. I had a three hour commute to get home from a store down the street. Jay had a five hour commute home from his office which is usually 10 minutes away. Compared to the people forced to sleep in the cars on the highway, we had it easy!

The city shut down for the two days following the storm and we hunkered down in our homes waiting for the ice to melt off the roads. Dylan enjoyed some time in the snow.

Dylan loves concocting things in the kitchen. Every day he asks to make some sort of baked goods. Any given week we might make cookies, brownies and a cake with frosting. I love baking with him but there are just too many sweets in the house! So my new move is to do science experiments! I went out to the store and stocked up on supplies to do all sorts of experiments and found a ton of tutorials online. Saturday morning we made a volcano in a cup. Later today we are making slime!

We had a play date with some of Dylan’s friends at a park on Saturday!

Jay had some playmates there too! Here he is swinging with Jase.

I wonder what they are looking at up there…

Oh, its Trey!

The kids had a lot of fun on the slides with their dads. Here’s a cute video I got of Dylan and Jay (and Zara at the end). They had a running joke that when they got stuck in the tunnel of the slide, someone had to sneeze to shake them loose.

After the park we ate a late lunch at Hankook and then stopped by a craft store. The baby’s room is just about finished but we need some art for the walls. I’ll post some pictures once its done! Its pretty minimal but I think I’m just more practical this time around. I know how quickly you acquire things with a baby and rather than start off with a heavily decorated nursery full of stuffed animals and decorations, I’m just doing the basics. Clutter has a way of finding me so I know the room won’t be minimal for long. We have bins full of Dylan’s old toys ready to roll out as the baby is ready for them!

I forgot to take pictures of anything until about 6pm Sunday night, so I don’t have much to show you. We started the day making plantain pancakes for breakfast and then lounge around the house for a long time. I say we lounged, but it was an active lounging because we were working around the house, playing games and so on. Jay took Dylan fishing around noon while I rested for a bit and then we ran out to the grocery store. That’s about it!

Dylan got a cut on his finger so we picked out some new Band-Aids at the store. He picked a Spiderman kind and asked if he could watch an episode of Spiderman on TV when we got home. It was his first time watching anything Spiderman related and he picked a 1981 animated series featuring Spiderman, Ice Man and Fire Starter. He watched two episodes back to back and then emerged with a new passion.

He spent the rest of the night running around the house pretending to be Spiderman, Ice Man and Fire Starter. Here’s a video of that:

With Spideman in the mix, his current favorite toys are Rescue Bots, Switch & Go Dinos and super heroes!

That’s it for now! Hope you have happy Mondays!

The kids are adorable! Looks like fun! The volcano is awesome, you guys are all set for any future science fairs! Ryder knows tons of science experiments he can share. 🙂

I have one for ‘Oobleck’ to go along with the Dr. Seuss story!! 1box of cornstarch, 1 cup water, Gerry food coloring. Mix together. It will be hard to mix! It takes on the characteristics of a solid and liquid and fun to play with. You can half the recipe. It might store in a vacuum sealed zip loc bag. Might have to add a few drops of water to rejuvenate. It’s real soft on your hands! Have fun!
