We spent the morning on Saturday getting the house ready for my family’s afternoon arrival. A quick stop by the grocery store was in order. Dylan became upset over something totally (not) monumental on the way out and a nice person at the Customer Service desk cheered him up with a balloon. Wouldn’t it be great if we could always be cheered up by a simple balloon?
With the help of Justin and Kendy, we had the house in tip top shape by the time my parents and my nephew, Ryder, arrived. I didn’t go through the whole house memorializing this moment, but I got a few pictures to prove it was actually clean.
(As I type this now, just over 24 hours later, it is…wait for it…no longer clean.)
After they arrived we visited for a bit and then went out for a BBQ dinner.
Ryder has been wearing these sunglasses nonstop!
Mom and me:
Dylan is enjoying the full house! It was kind of funny last night because he was assigning people books to read to him and then dashing off mid-story. Here, Jay has just realized that Dylan was missing from his reading…
And yet, he had a captive audience:
I decided to make cookies around 10 p.m. They involved ground oats.
And this is how you make a mess.
Dylan was up bright and early this morning. He put on my headband and got busy playing.
Slowly, everyone rose and got ready for the day. Glasses on, Ryder was ready to go!
We had a great breakfast at Marietta Diner.
And then Jay split because he had a shoot. The rest of us piled in my car and set off for Zoo Atlanta.
Dylan didn’t quite get what he was supposed to do here…he kinda got stuck:
The monkeys were killing it today! There seemed to be more out than ever before and they were all really active.
I love these next two pictures.
Ever see an elephant eat lunch?
Dylan napped in the car after the zoo. Our next stop was Atlantic Station to walk around and get our own, non bamboo, lunches. I stayed in the car with Dylan until he woke up and then we met back up with everyone else.
Ryder, wearing a Red Hot Chili Peppers t-shirt ate chili peppers for lunch. It was totally meta.
After lunch I took a train ride with Dylan and my mom.
A video my mom took to capture the moment!
We got ice creams and walked around after that and THEN we went to the grocery store. It was a busy day! I am quite exhausted now and need to hit the hay but I wanted to get this up before I go to bed because I know my grandmother and Carol will want to see what we’ve been up to while they’ve been holding down the fort at my parents’ house! Hope you all had a great weekend too!
