Weekend Recap: In Sickness & In Health

Thank you to Jay for supplying the title of tonight’s recap! It was, as the title indicates, a weekend of highs and lows. Dylan went to bed with a low grade fever Friday night and woke up Saturday feeling just miserable. A quick trip to the doctor’s office revealed his ear infection was back and, for whatever reason, he seems to get a fever in conjunction with it. He was only on his antibiotics for four out of the ten prescribed days last time he was sick (we thought he was possibly having some adverse reactions to the antibiotic so the doctor said he could stop early if his infection had cleared up. It had, but she did warn me that it might come back.). The good news is, the antibiotics made him feel much better in 24-hours, the bad news is, he was down for the count on Saturday and had to miss a classmate’s birthday party. So, that’s the overview of our weekend, but here are details:

Aside from going to the doctor’s office, we spent the whole day at home. Dylan napped on and off all day. At one point he was asleep for over three hours. His little body was hard at work fighting the infection! When he was awake, we reads lots and lots of books.

And when he was asleep, Jay and I browsed the internet for office furniture for his new office. (After multiple break-ins, his two companies are relocating to a safer location. Its also a bigger and better space so they are having fun getting new furniture and making the place awesome.)

Jay works 24/7 and I drag him around on the weekends so I think he actually enjoyed having a forced day of rest.

Dylan seemed much better after his longest nap. His fever was gone and his appetite was coming back.

Around 7pm we took a walk around the neighborhood. Dylan rode in his wagon and popped out every few houses to read the numbers on the mailboxes. He also played at the park for awhile.

I ran out to the grocery store in the evening, but that’s about it! I fell asleep putting Dylan to bed and woke up in the middle of the night fully dressed.

Dylan woke up full of energy and fever-free, so we went ahead with our plans to attend a birthday party for one of his other school friends (he missed one on Saturday). The party was held at a nearby gymnastics space that we go to a lot but its was especially fun on Sunday because he got to use the zip line, which only comes out on special occasions!

There was a lovely kid-friendly lunch served, but Dylan wouldn’t eat anything but the chocolate candies decorating the tables.

It was a fun Sunday morning made even more fun in contrast to the rough day before.

Dylan LOVED the gift bag, which had a Hello, Kitty theme. He “meowed” the entire car ride to our next stop.

We grabbed lunch while we were out.

I had a chicken pita and salad…

With a side of salt, pepper and cute!

Not much to report from the rest of the day…we just returned home and got ready for the week. Here’s to a healthy week ahead! (fingers crossed)
