Wow! After a week long absence from blogging, I have so much to share. As noted above, this will be an epic Weekend Recap spanning as far back as Thursday. Can you believe it? I know, I’m breaking all sorts of rules. What can I say…I’m a wild woman. Winking smile

Thursday

Let’s arbitrarily kick things off with this picture of the tulips my dad bought before he left. They grew so tall and out of control. If I knew how to keep botanical things alive I would have repotted them or whatever is appropriate to do with tulips, but I don’t, so I just cut them and put them in a smaller vase to get a few more days out of their beauty.

My BFF, Katie, was due to fly in Thursday night, so I took Dylan to the children’s museum during the day. I knew he would be sharing my attention with her over the weekend so I wanted to give him a big dose of it before Katie arrived. We stopped in the gift shop our way out of the museum and I told Dylan he could pick out one small toy. He took his time, considered everything, and ultimately settled on this bowl, which he then carried and played with the rest of the day:

He really showed the bowl a great time! We hit up a park across the street from the museum and Dylan pushed the bowl on the swings and then chased it down the slide.

Dylan was in bed when Katie arrived so we kicked back and had some adult fun! I like how Dylan and I are sort of in this picture too…

Friday

Katie was in town for business as well as pleasure so she had a few meetings on Friday. Even so, she accompanied me to Dylan’s dentist appointment in the morning.

We also had time to get lunch before her meetings so we hit up the Marietta Diner.

I love a good diner!

Dylan liked the diner too! He’s had a big appetite this week, which is surprising since the dentist said he is getting his very last two teeth at this very moment.

Katie used Jason’s office as a meeting place, so Dylan and I tagged along and hung out with Jay and everyone else there while she worked.

Here’s a cute video of Dylan and Jay singing The Wheels on the Bus:

Later that evening, before Dylan went to bed, Jason hooked a microphone up to his turntables and tried to get Dylan to let loose.

Dylan on the mic:

Once Dylan was asleep, the three of us put on complimentary hoodies and had some more adult fun.

Mostly that came in the form of Vining. I know most of you know what Vine is, but for those of you who don’t (Mom, Roxanne…), let me explain. Vine is a new social network where users create six second videos and share them with other Vine users. You have to shoot the videos from within the app so you can’t edit them, but you can get creative by stopping and starting recording during the six seconds. Pretty soon, everyone will be Vining and at that point it might be weird for me to put them in my blog posts, but since people are still discovering it, I figured I’d share a few from our weekend.

This is our first Vine of the weekend. Katie hadn’t heard of Vine before we shot this, so it was her introduction.

Then we shot this one. I call it “Hood Rats” or “The Vine That Makes Katie Laugh Without Fail” because after she saw this one, she started laughing and couldn’t stop.

Emergen-B:

I’ll end things there for Friday, because soon all three of us had Vine accounts, were uploading videos rapidly and things were getting weird!

Saturday

Jason watched Dylan on Saturday morning while Katie and I had some girl time. Katie and I went for a long walk and then to a mall, but I didn’t think to take any pictures. Jason and Dylan had fun too. They went for a walk and then hit up Chuck E. Cheese and Toys ‘R’ Us. Also, Dylan ate ice cream:

When we returned home, Katie took a bath and relaxed while Jay and I played with Dylan.

Jiffy Pop fail:

It was an unusual day for me because not only did I have “girl time” in the morning, but Dylan’s sitter came in the evening so that Jay, Katie and I could go out for drinks and dinner.

We went to Eleanor’s Room, one of our favorite places. It’s a “secret” bar inside Muss & Turner’s restaurant.

Vining @ Eleanor’s:

Katie and I were craving sweets after dinner so we stopped by the grocery store for something with frosting. Jay humored us.

Sort of. The Paleo Police were out in full force:

Katie picked up a treat for Dylan too!

And I took a load off in the Cheeze-It chair.

Dylan was up when we got home so he helped us tear into the cake! That scene is not pictured…yikes!

Sunday

Despite the time change and going to bed late, Dylan was up an hour early Sunday morning. I guess he felt pressure to get some work done:

(Takes after his dad in that way.)

The weather was perfect this morning so we all went for a walk in our neighborhood.

IMG_0420 (640x480)

Katie had a late afternoon flight so we went out for brunch and then bopped around Atlanta until it was time to take her to the airport.

IMG_0421 (640x480)

Bopping is kind of hard work, despite the implied buoyancy. First on the bopping agenda was a train ride around Atlantic Station.

There were a lot of people out enjoying the weather at Atlantic Station. We even happened upon a hoola hooping situation.

Katie Vined it, of course.

IMG_0429 (640x480)

There were also a number of street performers out. Not to be outdone, Jason and Dylan showed off some of their tricks!

IMG_0440 (480x640)

A second train ride also took place. My cute boys:

Further bopping occurred at the CNN center, though that is not pictured. Katie was looking for a few ATL t-shirts to bring home to her own boys. Eventually, all bopping came to an end and we dropped Katie off at the airport. It was so nice to have her visit and I’m glad I will see her again in a week when I go to New Hampshire with Dylan to visit!

The rest of Sunday was spent relaxing…Ahhhh…

Hope ya’ll had wonderful weekends too!

I had such a great time visiting with you all! Thank you for making me laugh harder than I have in a long time. Little recap on my flight home: I met a girl on the plane and we instantly bonded. Turned out she was Ed Helms (Hangover, The Office) cousin! We watched Country Strong on her lap top and when she asked me if I wanted to go out into the garage to practice karate (Step Brother’s quote- movie quoting is the way to my heart, as you know) I knew she was good people. I invited her to NH for our birthday celebration later this month! I know you will love her too. Then Brad picked me up at the airport 🙂 I miss you already and can’t wait to see you in 8 days!
