Weekend Recap: New Beginnings (39 Weeks!)

Spring is in full bloom! It’s a time of growth, rebirth and new beginnings. This is my favorite time of year. If all the seasons were a day, spring would be the morning. Since I am a lark, I’m happiest this time of year.

Feels like a good time to have a baby!

(No, I haven’t had him yet but its imminent!)

This past week, Roxanne and I spent a lot of time outside with Dylan. We went to many of our favorite parks because once summer hits we won’t be able to spend as much time at them. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why its not mandatory for Georgia parks to all have splash pads and shade. At least shade! I’d rather have fewer parks in exchange for more shade because for a third of the year you can’t even visit half of them due to the blazing hot sun.

Roxanne is the queen of the underdogs! (BTW, there is a real debate about whether or not the term is “underdog” or “underduck”. Both are used depending on where you live. I always called them “underdogs” because that is what my grandfather called them, but I can see why “underducks” makes more sense since you are ducking under the swing. Roxanne is on the “underducks” team.)

Here’s a cute video I call “Grammy Got Run Over By A Dylan”:

My little angel with a halo:

I love this picture! I can’t wait until I can pick Dylan up high again! I miss that so much!

He has a lot of fun with Roxanne. She’s like a big kid when she plays with him. He even calls her a “kid” sometimes! When you are being silly and playing with Dylan on his level, he points at you and says, “You a kid.” But when you are exercising some authority over him, he says, “You an adult.”

Another funny classification he makes is when someone is being “hard” or “soft” with him. For example, if I am telling him he can’t do something he will say, “You are hard.” Then, if Jay says he can do the thing he wants to do he will say, “Dada is soft.” Jay and I both get excited when we get to be soft because Dylan clearly prefers soft people.

One rainy day we went to Chuck E Cheese because its an easy activity on the way home from preschool. I generally like to do at least one fun activity with him on the way home.

Another fun activity is getting ice cream!

Dylan is getting lots of attention these days with three adults around to entertain him. He’s also getting lots of kisses, whether he wants them or not!

(He usually wants them.)

We have this random mattress on the floor of Roxanne’s room. We need to sell it, but in the meantime, its providing a fun place for Dylan to play:

Saturday, the question around the house was, “Are we gonna have a baby today?” and the answer turned out to be no. Levi will come when he is ready!

So, we spent the day doing various things. Jay and I took Dylan for a walk around the neighborhood and did some swinging at the park in the early morning. I have been walking a lot this week, which has improved my mood and general disposition tremendously. Regular movement and sunshine enhance my mood so much.

We also got in a little hike in the afternoon. It was a very small hike, just to a pond near the parking area at the Chattahooche River National Recreation Area. I didn’t want to go too far since my bladder has a mind of its own these days. (Sorry, TMI.)

I got a call from my grandmother while we were there. She and I are sending each other good vibes.

Dylan had a lot of fun exploring the nature around the pond.

He was especially pumped because we found an incredibly large amount of tadpoles swimming along the shoreline. One of Dylan’s favorite Curious George stories, Tadpole Trouble, taught Dylan about the journey a tadpole takes to become a frog. Seeing the tadpoles live was exciting for him. Here’s a cool video Jay took of the tadpoles.

Are these two related or what?

Dylan and I have fun together, but when Jay is around, things are definitely kicked up a notch. For example, this is not something I would have thought to do, but Dylan sure loved it!

Here he is filling his pockets with rocks:

I taught Jay and Roxanne how to make a whistle out of grass. We all did that for awhile and probably really annoyed the animals in the woods.

We also went out to dinner. Dylan’s meal came with a cupcake at the end, which made the outing infinitely more exciting for him.

Roxanne and Dylan did not have fun on the way home. Here they are being very bored with each other:

Sunday was lazy but enjoyable. After breakfast I went for a nice walk and when I got back Jay and Roxanne were taking Dylan fishing across the street. I rinsed off fast and joined them. Jay caught a gigantic fish while I was in the shower but no one caught it on camera. We do have two smaller fish to show for our efforts though.

Dylan was a little afraid of the fish. We wanted him to feel them before we threw them back in the water, but he turned his back on them.

We had a late lunch/early dinner at the Marietta Diner (aka Dylan’s favorite restaurant). He strung together this necklace in the car on the way there and was very proud of it!

His favorite part of going to the diner is getting a gumball!

We grabbed some groceries after eating and then headed back home. It was an enjoyable and restful day. The calm before the storm, I’m sure!

Do you guys think I’ll have this baby before I post again?!

Anyway…hope you had nice weekends! I’ll keep you posted on any news!
