I’m tossing this recap up quickly lest it slips through the cracks! The time change screwed up Dylan’s bedtime last night and I had something else to work on tonight so this recap had the potential to get pushed back another day, but writing about my rather mundane weekend on a Tuesday feels silly so I’m getting it up quick!
Saturday
I woke up early with Dylan and drank coffee while he sent various toys down this ramp:
Aside from M&Ms, Dylan doesn’t eat any candy but he does like to play with it. I felt a little weird opening up a bunch of Halloween candy at 7 am but he truly didn’t eat any of it; he just likes the process of opening little packages and seeing what’s inside.
It was great weather so we went on a family bike ride. I pulled Dylan in a trailer on my bike and when we were done we got out his bike so that he could take a spin too. The only problem was, he wasn’t in the mood to get on it.
We had lunch at Hankook.
Dylan took a nap when we got back.
I thought Dylan’s shoes were getting small so we went to a shoe store in the afternoon. They measured his feet and apparently they aren’t any bigger since the last time we were there so we ended up leaving without anything new. Dylan enjoyed the outing anyway because he made some friends at the store.
We stopped by a park on our way home.
Sunday
Things got messy bright and early Sunday morning. This was happening around 6 am:
Play-Doh came out when the paint went away. I find I have the most energy for messy art projects in the morning.
When Jason woke up we made our Thanksgiving plans and booked a few nights at a cool place a couple hours from our house. We’re looking forward to a family vacation.
Then we went out to run a few errands. I had some returns and its always easier for me to run errands when Jay is around to help manage Dylan’s in-store energy.
So, at one store as I was returning something and the salesperson asked for my license. When I gave it to her she was like, “Oh, wow! You look so…different…now.”
It was clear she thought I looked much better in my license. I finished the return, got in the car and felt…blah.
We ate lunch out again.
Back home, Dylan napped while Jay and I worked. We spent the entire rest of the day playing outside. A favorite moment:
That’s about it! Better late than never!

Looks good Doll. I don’t like the hot part of summer your way, but now would probably be great. It beats the heck out of cleaning snow off my truck like I did this morning…….. Yes Snow. I am on business up by lake Superior near Ironwood Michigan on the U.P. Anyway, take care Doll. TTFN
I can’t believe that salesperson made that comment to you. You look great. Don’t you even think twice about it. It really gets to me that people don’t think before they speak. I constantly get comments about how I raise my son. What I should do and shouldn’t do. They make me doubt myself and I hate that. It has stopped me from hanging out with some good friends. Sorry but I want supportive positive people around me. Ok that’s my rant for today :-).
I heart you. I wish we could hang out! I bet our kids would get along great too. Thanks for the pep talk. 🙂
Me too! It would be so nice to see you again and have our little ones play together. Love your blog. I read it all the time :-))
It sure looks like Dylan had a fun weekend. You give him lots of opportunities to be creative and have fun. You are a great mom!
