Weekend Recap: Onward

Post image for Weekend Recap: Onward

I was a very bad blogger last week. I’ve been chasing a deadline for a freelance writing project and have needed to use every free second for that. I miss blogging so much when I don’t get a chance to do it regularly! Luckily, the project I’m working on is due Tuesday so I’ll be back to my regular irregular posting schedule soon.

Although, adding insult to injury, I have another bad blogger confession to make. I had to get a new iPhone because the speaker on my old one was broken and in the process of switching phones I lost all of the pictures on my camera, including the ones I was going to share in this Weekend Recap. I have a few pictures and videos from Jay’s phone, but this will be a skin and bones recap. I’m not letting myself even think of all the media I lost from my phone. Onward we go.

Saturday was fun! We went to the circus with a group of our friends and their kids. My sole offering from Saturday is this video from the opening of the circus. At least its a good one!

We didn’t realize circuses are so looooong. Dylan was restless after an hour so we ducked out early. Later we learned that there was an intermission and yet another hour of the show after that. I would’ve enjoyed seeing all the acts, but I think we made the right decision because we grabbed lunch while we were out and then Dylan passed out on the way home. He would’ve become increasingly fussy as he got more tired at the circus.

Saturday afternoon we went grocery shopping, but other than that we just laid low. Jay and I finished watching Homeland and have moved onto House of Cards. Its good, but I miss Homeland.

I spent Sunday morning cleaning, organizing and doing laundry with some playtime with Dylan mixed in. I didn’t plan to do a lot of work around the house, which made it bearable. If I had known my fate ahead of time it would have weighed on me. I like spontaneous cleaning the best.

The afternoon was spent at the Lenox Mall. Specifically, I had an appointment at the Apple store. We got there on time but they were running really behind so we were there for well over an hour.

Dylan felt right at home.

After awhile, Jason opted to stay at the store and manage the phone situation while I chased Dylan around the mall. Even outside the Apple store, we were surrounded by iPhones.

We shared a rare sit-down family dinner when we got back from the mall. It’s a shame we don’t eat together more often (this is perhaps my biggest shame!) so I’m going to really, really, really try hard to make it happen more often.

We also got this little gem out of dinner:

Dylan is starting to really find his voice and it’s adorable. It took a while for him to start talking but he’s on a roll now.

This next week is going to fly by. We have a lot of little things going on each day and then it culminates in my parents and nephew, Ryder, flying in for a visit. I am SO excited! My parents are still working and can only make it to my house once a year, so its always special when they come. I’m trying to get the house in tip top shape between now and Saturday. My mom would be the first person to tell me not to worry about those kinds of things, but I like have a reason to do it since I let it go the rest of the time. My biggest project is organizing Dylan’s toys but Jay is going to help me so it probably won’t be that bad. He’s good at organizing.

That’s all for now! I promise to be a better blogger this week!

It couldn’t happen without you, Carol, and I am SO grateful. I will post pictures as often as I can for you to share with Grammy! I hope you have fun watching losing to her in cards, scratching lottery tickets and watching The View. 🙂

My favorite part about this post: “Saturday afternoon we went grocery shopping, but other than that we just laid low.” It struck me as funny because you had just come back from the Circus. It seems like you take Dylan on all these wonderful adventures and act like they are just common day occurrences. Fitting in the Circus and grocery shopping in one day seems like a huge feat to me!

It just seems that way when its all condensed into a couple paragraphs. Also, the term “circus” implies something more over-the-top than the effort it took to drive there really was since it was held only twenty minutes from my house. Besides, having two toddlers means you have a circus to enjoy wherever you go…I have to find mine in a stadium.
