Saturday

We are all going away on Tuesday, so this weekend was really low-key. I probably told you already, but to recap: Jay is going to LA for work and Dylan and I are going to New Hampshire to visit my family. Before I get to the weekend, I just wanted to share this little mess with you because, like when Dylan uses glitter, some messes are too pretty not to share and appreciate.

We came into some last minute tickets to have breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning because our friends couldn’t use the ones they bought. Since we didn’t have anything else planned, we decided to get dressed quickly and go.

The event was kind of weird but sort of festive. It was a Santa/Fire Truck breakfast at a noodle house. It was pouring rain and we arrived late but somehow we got the best seats because we were right by the window overlooking the fire trucks and Santa’s arrival.

Dylan is hyper-focused on trucks these days so he glanced at Santa but really only cared about the trucks.

You can’t see the rain very well, but it was coming down hard. Jay and Dylan braved a shower to get up close to a fire truck before we left.

I don’t have many pictures from Saturday because, like I said, it was pretty mellow. We went to Whole Foods to get food for dinner on our way home from breakfast, but we stayed home other than that. I pretty much played Play-Doh and trucks all day long.

Sunday

I got a walk in Saturday morning (Thanks, Jay!), which was rejuvenating. We spent the morning around the house and then went out to run some errands around lunchtime. Our first stop was Jay’s office because he had to pick something up.

Dylan LOVES going to Jay’s office.

His first stop is always the fish tank.

Jay showed Dylan the new video game system they got for the office.

Dylan drew me this picture on a whiteboard. <3

And then promptly erased it.

We ran into the mall quickly to get a security tag removed from a previously purchased shirt (don’t you hate when they forget to take those off?) and then ate lunch at an Italian place near our house. We hadn’t been before and were trying to branch out but it was just okay.

A glimpse:

Jay had a bunch of phone meetings this afternoon, but after those, and when the sun set, we hopped in the car for the five minute drive to The Village Green, which is a community area well-decorated for the holidays. I drove past the Christmas lights a few nights ago and thought Dylan would enjoy them, so we had to take  him tonight or he would’ve miss them for the season since we will be gone until after the new year. We parked the car and got out to walk around. It was FREEZING.

Dylan calls tree ornaments like these “wrecking balls”:

Last but not least, a couple of cute videos! This first one is just Dylan playing “Mama Says” in the gazebo. I like his take on being a frog.

And this video is Dylan and Jay “dancing”. Dylan takes two big spills in this video, but since he was okay I figured it was fine to show it.

That’s about it! When I write again I will be in New Hampshire. It will be our last trip until after the baby arrives. Speaking of baby, we picked a first and middle name for definite this weekend and I am really excited about them! I’m not going to share until after he is born though, because I don’t want anyone to not like what we chose and kill my vibe. Winking smile
