Saturday
One thing about our family’s line of work is that you never know what the day might bring. Before Dylan was born I was more involved in the day to day operation of things but now I do more listening to the myriad interesting things Jay does in a day. For example, one day last week he toured a beautiful mansion for a location scout, attended a modern gospel music dance fitness session and stopped by a joke shop to pick up a rubber chicken for a shoot. Anyway, it wasn’t weird or anything but this Saturday Dylan and I tagged along on a meeting to discuss the web future of a new gourmet chutney company.
We joined the family at their house and enjoyed a breakfast spread that included a sampling of the amazing chutneys.
Dylan was a wonderful addition to Jay’s presentation.
When Dylan wasn’t “helping” his dad close the deal, he was hanging out on the couch playing on our iPad and making a new four-legged friend.
I happened to catch this moment where Dylan was offering the dog a drink from his sippy cup.
Back home, Jay racked up the awesome-dad points but setting up a water slide outside!
I was going to show you a video of Dylan going down the slide but I like this one better.
We took a trip to the local Whole Foods in the late afternoon and then Justin came over for dinner. We had a low key night at home. Here’s Dylan doing his best to ignore a very annoying cow.
Sunday
I made another Paleo-friendly banana bread this morning. Upon Jay’s request I added blueberries, walnuts and dark chocolate. To quote Ina Garten, “How bad can that be?”
We went to the pool in the morning and then out to lunch at a place called Shish Kebab Mediterranean Grill after Dylan’s nap for a buffet. Here’s a peek at our table:
(Still LOVING trying all these new restaurants!)
Dylan spent the meal glued to the iPad. Normally, I wouldn’t approve of this level of disengagement at the table (even iPhones seem less intrusive) but it was Sunday, he’d had a busy morning, and he was so content, I just let it go. Pick your battles, right?
We ran errands after lunch and then came back home. Jay played tennis with his brother in our neighborhood while I played with Dylan and then we all reconvened at the pool to cool off. Two interesting things happened at the pool: 1) We met another family with a two year old boy and have plans to get the kids together next week and 2) Another, older, neighbor-lady brought this “boom box” to the pool for her own musical enjoyment:
Totally made my day.

Sounds like a delightful weekend! I love seeing the pictures of Dylan! I just want to pick him up and hug him!
