Post image for Weekend Recap: Three Day Weekend

We were invited to a potluck BBQ on Saturday so Jason assembled his famous “Thai Pork Butt” in the crockpot Friday night. Surprise, surprise, when I woke up Saturday morning I found this mess waiting for me:

And by “me” I mean “Jason” because he’s actually the one who cleaned it up. I was too busy photographing it.

Saturday morning was pretty typical. Dylan did cute things like breathe and drink from a cup:

And then I took him for a run after breakfast. I am very conscientious about wearing sunscreen but I’ve still been getting too much sun lately, especially on my arms and upper chest. It’s the darn Georgia sun and the fact that I am outside a ton with Dylan. Jay suggested I get an SPF shirt for when I run and this ugly green one was the only one I could find in my size at Target. It’s so…green.

Remember last weekend when I talked about how so much is up in the air for us? Well, Saturday morning brought along some answers. I don’t want to jinx it but I think we found people wanting to lease-to-own our house and we have set our move date for July 1st!

The family gave us about a ten minute warning before wanting to come by to see the house so Jay and I scrambled to tidy it up. I wasn’t in the room while Jay talked details with the couple so when they left I, very excitedly, plopped on the bed and said, “Oh my God, tell me everything!”

He totally gave me this face:

Since you don’t know Jay-face I will translate. His expression says, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

I was like, “You know…tell me everything about the deal you just closed for us to possibly sell our house? When are they moving in? When are we moving out? Where are we going to live? That kind of stuff!”

Anyway, later in the afternoon we loaded up the car and set off for a BBQ at our friends Jase and Davina’s house. Since it was an hour drive we brought Dylan’s DVD player.

There was a lot of good food, good friends and cute kiddos around.

Here’s Trey and his daughter Olivia. I try to feature Trey in this blog whenever possible because he’s one it’s biggest supporters!

Here’s Davina with Jay and Dylan. You will notice that Dylan is a blur in this picture. This is an accurate representation of him all day on Saturday. He did not stop moving the entire time we were there!

Jase and Davina’s daughter, Zara, is Dylan’s age but they have very different dispositions. Zara is snuggly and chill whereas Dylan is constantly on the move and stops for no one. Jase and Davina don’t have to worry too much about child-proofing so when Dylan touched ground in their house he immediately started tearing things down and demolishing everything! Jason’s expression here sums up the afternoon:

I wish Dylan would’ve eaten some of the great food that was available.

I made a plate of fruit and veggies to offer him and a backup plate of chicken strips and french fries (brought from home).

He didn’t eat from either plate. He was just too busy!

Sunday morning started with family tech-time in bed. This is something new we’ve been doing because Dylan wakes up and makes a beeline for Jason’s iPad. Since Jay and I are groggy we don’t have the energy to redirect him so we just embrace it.

And actually, it provides some sweet cuddle time.

Later in the morning we had to run some errands in town so we stopped by a park on our way home. Dylan and Jay played football.

And I got a video of Dylan actually rolling a soccer ball back and forth with Jason. That doesn’t sound like a big deal but I think it’s the first time Dylan’s really grasped the concept of rolling it back and forth as a give and take kind of game.

Sunday afternoon we got a lead on a possible townhouse for us to rent so we piled in the car again and drove an hour to go see it. Unfortunately, it was a case of false advertising. On the way back home we felt like this:

And, of course, ended up at Jefferson’s for dinner. Dylan was excited to get a balloon from the waitress.

Also, he was really into sucking on ice cubes.

Monday morning brought more cuddle time in bed.

Later in the day Jason’s brother came over and we all went to a park that offers Disc Golf. Jay and his brother played that while I entertained Dylan. It was toooooooo hot!

Another first took place at the park when Dylan picked a flower and gave it to me. It was very sweet.

Later, we cooled down with frozen yogurt and ran to the grocery store.

I was at the grocery store alone with Dylan. Not pictured was Dylan throwing a gallon of orange juice and a container of coffee creamer out of the shopping cart and onto the ground in a moment of fussiness. The creamer exploded and I wanted to crawl into a hole! I was too dumfounded to snap a picture. You’ll have to take my word for it.

Back home, I put away groceries, made dinner, put away laundry and gave Dylan a bath. The usual!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends! I’d like to offer a special thanks to all the service men and women who gave their lives for our freedom.

Great pictures of the BBQ you attended and Dylan’s ball playing. He did very well. He is so cute. I can’t wait to love him up! Thanks for sharing about your weekend. It makes me feel like I enjoyed some of it with you. See you soon!

I miss you guys! Looks like it was a nice weekend! Dylan is so adorable! Julia has been known to throw things in frustration too. They will have so much fun together. Are you changing the days you come up? I want more details about your move. 🙂
