Weekend Recap: Toolin’ Around

Why is the weekend over already? I mean, I know I don’t have to go to work tomorrow, but work weeks are still a lot of work, even for a SAHM. The messes I choose to ignore over the weekend become my problem on Monday mornings, for one thing, and I no longer have the choice to ignore them! Well, I could, I guess, but it all builds exponentially and becomes unlivable quickly. But I digress. Happy Sunday!

Jay and I were supposed to be in Italy this week but we are not there by a long shot. It’s a long story, but a bunch of stuff derailed our plans for the time being. In lieu of Italy, we did some really exciting things in Smyrna, Georgia! (not really). Actually, we had a nice American weekend as a family and I drank a lot of lemonade in place of wine.

Doesn’t this just scream America? Inhaling Nutella in a car seat?

I must have mentioned three or thirty times that Dylan is obsessed with Handy Manny these days, right? Well, he recently earned a new Handy Manny toy that is actually kind of hard to find. They don’t make many Handy Manny toys these days and all the best ones from the past are on Ebay. Anywho, I got him this talking, dancing and singing Handy Manny toolbox and it hasn’t left his side a minute since he got it on Friday. You will see it makes quite a few appearances in this recap. Here he was falling asleep Friday night:

Saturday

It was really pleasant out Saturday morning so I took a walk by myself and then went back to our house to take Dylan to the park across the street. Jay joined us too. Oh, and the tools were there, of course. We tried to feed the fish but the geese stole their food.

Dusty, the saw, fed the fish too.

Dylan is very considerate of his tools. He gets excited when they’re going somewhere new (in this case, the park) and he makes sure they get the full experience:

Fun on the swing:

More tool time at the park:

We planned to have a low-key weekend so we didn’t really do too much. A couple things we did do included a quick jaunt (with the tools) to a sad little pumpkin patch on the side of the road:

And stopping by another park.

The tools caused quite a stir at the park. Kids were flocking to them and Dylan felt extremely special. He enjoyed showing the kids how each tool worked.

Sunday

We popped by a BBQ festival in Marietta Square on Sunday but it was insanely busy (imagine people pushing and shoving each other to get in line to get meat), so we left quickly.

However, we made a point to stay long enough for Dylan to jump on the giant bungee trampoline thingys that he loves so much.

We went out to lunch after that. We were starving after smelling all the BBQ at the festival and not being able to eat any of it. Dylan was in a great mood at the restaurant because he and the tools were going to see a movie afterward.

We watched about half of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 before Dylan decided he was over it. I don’t think there were enough tools in the film to hold is attention.

Not much else left to report…we came home and the three of us snuggled in bed for awhile and then began the night time routine, which, on Sundays, includes writing this recap for me! Hope you call had great weekends!

I’m sad you’re not in Italy, Court. There is a new movie coming out called Free Birds that I bet will keep Dylan’s attention. It has a tie in with Thanksgiving. Miss you.

It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. Who needs Italy? I love the pictures of you and Dylan. It is great that Dylan loves tools. He must love Home Depot! When he comes to Milton, he will have to do a building project with Grandpa!
I am thinking of you!
