I’m excited to share another great preschool educational app with you guys! This one is called Endless Alphabet and it’s the latest offering from app developing superstars, Callaway Digital Arts.

I was first introduced to the works of this developer with The Monster at the End of This Book and Another Monster at the End of This Book, two apps that have been long time favorites in our house and on iTunes. If your child likes Sesame Street, definitely download those apps too!

Callaway Digital’s latest offering, Endless Alphabet is an intuitive learning application that teaches spelling and vocabulary through the use of sorting, sounding out letters and descriptive animations. The whole process is led by a ragtag team of silly monsters.

After the app loads, the first step is to flip through a carousel of vocabulary words and select the one you want to explore.

I like that the vocabulary words are more exciting and challenging than the usual ones found in children’s books and learning applications. The way kids get the word “cat” drilled into them, you would think cats ruled the world. Personally, I use the word “tangle” much more often. As in: “My ear buds are tangled.”; “My hair is tangled.”; and, “Oh, what a tangled web we weave…”

A couple more examples:

Once you pick a word a new screen loads and the letters of the word are scrambled by a parade of funky little monsters.

It is then the child’s job to sort and drag the letters back to where they belong.

When a letter is selected it becomes animated and sounds itself out with a silly voice.

Each letter has its own voice and personality.

Finally, when the word has been assembled correctly a narrator’s voice gives a kid-friendly definition of the word while a short animation depicting the definition plays.

To prove how user-friendly this app really is, the following video shows Dylan playing it for the very first time.

That video was taken was about a week ago and he’s still really excited to play Endless Alphabet. In fact, he’s playing right next to me right now as I write this. (He’s learning the word “odor”.)

This was him playing it earlier tonight:

The nitty gritty: Endless Alphabet is compatible with iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads. It is a free app and can be download here. Endless Alphabet is developed by Callaway Digital Arts and they have a slew of high-quality, mostly free apps featuring favorite characters like Thomas & Friends, Cookie Monster, Grover, Elmo, Angelina, Miss Spider AND OMG OMG THEY HAVE A MR. POTATO HEAD APP! I just downloaded it. I can’t WAIT to show it to Dylan!

This one looks great!! Sammy loves making the puzzles so this would be right up his alley!! I love the way that both Dylan and Sammy use their thumbs to drag some of their pieces!!
