We kicked off the weekend with a neighborhood yard sale where we scored some toys and clothes for Dylan. Later in the morning we hopped in the car to grab lunch at Hankook.

Dylan kept busy dunking chopsticks in his water and then sucking on them.

Later, after his nap, Dylan and I played outside while Jay picked up beer and wine for dinner. We were having our good friends Bridget and Savvy over.

Dylan played with a pirate ship, one of his “new” toys from the yard sale.

He also had a snack. Not very healthy, but it’s the best I can do with my picky eater. The M&Ms were just used for play anyway.

When Jay came home he surprised me with beautiful roses!

And a toy for Dylan.

We (Dylan) tidied up the house in anticipation of our guests. He’s about as skilled at mopping as I am.

His favorite part is spraying the Swiffer juice.

Jay is a taskmaster!

We had a great time with Savvy and Bridget! So great, in fact, that I didn’t think to take pictures. Jay got this one of Dylan watching videos with Savvy. S & B have been out of town for a number of months so I was surprised by how quickly Dylan warmed up to them.

We went to the Dollar Store after breakfast this morning and picked up Halloween decorations!

And then we stopped by Cobb International Farmer’s Market, a place we’ve been hearing great things about. It was amazing! They had tons of fruits and vegetables, many of which I have never seen before. We’ll be going back regularly, for sure.

I think I need to read up on some of the produce I saw before I experiment. I played it safe today with my trusted gourds, though I did get a couple new (to me) varieties to try.

Back home we played, ate and Dylan napped. Jason had a meeting with a local frozen yogurt bar(Subzero) in the afternoon so Dylan and I tagged along and scored some free sweets!

We also had to stop by another grocery store to get some chicken to cook for dinner. When we’re just running into a store for something quick we don’t put (force) Dylan into a buggy. Instead, one of us stays on Dylan-duty while the other shops.

Dylan-duty isn’t so bad. Winking smile

That said, it is a little awkward when he whips out his lay-on-the-ground move in the middle of the cereal aisle.

When we were back home we unloaded the groceries and then walked across the street to the playground.

I’ve begun trying to teach Dylan to pump his legs on a swing:

The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing and decorating the house for Halloween. Dylan has been obsessed with the Higglytown Heroes Halloween Special on Demand. He watched it on a loop today.

I’m really pleased that my commitment to be festive this season is working out. My motivation is 100% Dylan. He is showing so much interest in Halloween and had a great time helping me decorate.

After all my talk about decorating our mantel in my last post, I forgot to take a picture of it today! If my eyes weren’t so heavy right now I’d go snap one, but they are, and bed is calling. I’m going to go walk through our dark living room and look at all the glow-in-the-dark spiders we’ve scattered around!
