Spring is in full bloom! It’s a time of growth, rebirth and new beginnings. This is my favorite time of year. If all the seasons were a day, spring would be the morning. Since I am a lark, I’m happiest this time of year.

Well, I Didn’t Expect This! (38 Weeks)

by Courtney Sirotin on March 31, 2014

Post image for Well, I Didn’t Expect This! (38 Weeks)

I can’t write a weekend recap today because Jay has most of the pictures on his phone and he’s at work. But, I wanted to pop in just to give an update and say I haven’t had the baby yet. This is very unexpected! I was SURE he was coming early but I was wrong! I’m well into my 38th week. At this point, I have no expectations and I’m trying not to analyze every sensation because I seem to be reading everything wrong. Each day I tell Jay and Roxanne, “This is the day!” Then its not. Of course, at 38 weeks any day could really be the day but I’m not making any bets on which one.

Weekend Recap: Full Term, Baby!

by Courtney Sirotin on March 24, 2014

Breaking news! The baby made it full term! I am now in my 37th week and the baby is safe to come whenever he is ready now. Hooray!

We made it another week and I thank Roxanne for that. She has made everything manageable and now that I made it to 37 weeks I feel comfortable resuming my regular activities. It could be another 10 minutes or 10 days but we are ready to meet Levi now.

Wow…another update and its not to announce the baby’s birth! That’s a surprise to me. I’m 36 weeks and 3 days (3 days longer than Dylan) and feeling very happy to have made it this far. I thank my mother in law, Roxanne, and Jay for getting me past 36 weeks. Roxanne has been so amazing taking care of all of us and the housework since she got here last week and Jay has been taking Dylan out and keeping him happy while my mobility is limited. They are both lifesavers!

At my last OB appointment the midwife said that at this point every day the baby stays inside is huge and she really wanted me to make it to 37 weeks, which is technically full term…that’s four days away. If I make it that far I will be comfortable resuming normal activity until little Levi is ready to come out, but if I don’t make it that far at least I will know I did everything possible to keep him in as long as I could. So yeah, this is a positive update!

The Poop Files

by Courtney Sirotin on March 11, 2014

Post image for The Poop Files

I started this blog over two years ago with a post about duck poop. Since then, poop has been a recurring theme. I can’t say I’m proud of this, but a blog about parenthood, if it is honest, is bound to involve some talk about poop. So here I am being honest again.

Weekend Recap: Home Stretch!

by Courtney Sirotin on March 10, 2014

Whelp, we made it to 35 weeks and my mother-in-law, Roxanne, is here so if baby Levi decides to come early, we are ready for him!

I spent last week doing as many things as possible with Dylan. These are our last outings alone and that has been pretty emotional for me. Things are changing for good reasons, but change is always hard, especially when it means Dylan is growing up and perhaps a little further from me. I don’t think there is a pace that he could become more independent that would feel slow enough for me because I always want him to be my baby! But alas, its good for him to have the confidence and ability to be his own man and and that’s all that really matters. Still, I wouldn’t mind if time stood still now and then.

Weekend Recap: Sit, Sitting, Sat

by Courtney Sirotin on March 3, 2014

Time for a quick pregnancy update before the weekend recap!

I’ve made it to 34 weeks! This is supposed to be a milestone week in terms of how well the baby would survive outside the womb so I am relived to be here. That said, I can’t imagine getting any bigger!

Snapshots While I Rest

by Courtney Sirotin on February 25, 2014

Post image for Snapshots While I Rest

I’m sitting here watching trashy TV and “putting my feet up” while my parents and Ryder are off on an adventure with Dylan. I have mixed emotions about this because I feel good and want to be with them, but my doctor told me not to exert myself and to get off my feet as much as possible. I’m grateful to have a little time I don’t usually have to relax, but I do feel like I am missing out on some fun. I’m just trying to keep it in perspective; if I were on strict bed rest things would be a lot more extreme and this is all temporary anyway.

Weekend Recap: Dodged A Bullet (Fingers Crossed)

by Courtney Sirotin on February 17, 2014

Aside from a fun day I had with Dylan on Sunday, this past week and weekend revolved around Jay getting the flu and Dylan and I waiting to see if we would get it (we didn’t).

Jay got the flu shot but somehow it didn’t work for him. He started feeling bad last Monday and finally went to a clinic to get tested for the flu on Friday and it was positive for type B flu (which was covered in the flu shot so go figure). We were all home together sharing germs for four days because of the snow storm so Dylan and I were definitely exposed, but when I got the flu test on Saturday (as a precaution when I felt a slight sore throat) it was negative and today is Monday and I still feel fine so I think (knock on wood) Dylan and I are in the clear. Jay must have been given a botched flu shot or something.

Weekend Recap: Roar!

by Courtney Sirotin on February 12, 2014

This recap is a few days overdue, but better than nothing!

Here we are! I’m 31 weeks this week and feeling good! I’m tired and feel gigantic, but every day this baby stays inside and doesn’t emerge prematurely is a good day.

Jay spent Friday in Las Vegas having a meeting with Boyz II Men…because that’s what he does.

Here he is with Wanya Morris:

Meanwhile, I stayed home and made cookies with Dylan…because that’s what I do.
